Obituary of Charles L. Parent
Charles L. Parent, age 68, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Mary Parent.
Charlie is survived by the loves of his life – wife, Debra Parent, daughters, April (John) Gianvittorio of MD, Nicky Wall Hildebrant of Geneseo, Christie (Michael) Annechino of Pittsford, beloved grandchildren, Stella Hildebrant, Jack and Ana Gianvittorio, Capri and Lennon Annechino, sister, Mary Ellen (Gary) Haff of Canandaigua, several nieces and nephews.
From Charlie's 50 years of service to the Geneseo Fire Department, his entire career spent at the Village of Geneseo, to the meticulous care of the flowers on Main Street and to the lawn mowing and snow removal for countless residents it's appropriate to say he is survived by the entire town of Geneseo.
Charlie was born May 3, 1952 in Rochester, NY the son of Leo E. and Mary Flynn Parent. He graduated from Geneseo Central School, class of 1970. Charlie became an Operator in December of 1976 and retired in July of 2007 as Superintendent of the Water & Wastewater Department for the Village of Geneseo. He was a 50 year active member of the Geneseo Fire Department, joining in 1970. Charlie was active in all areas of the fire department including the ambulance squad. He was honored to be Chief on three separate occasions from 1978-80, 1987-89 and 1995-98. Charlie was instrumental in mentoring numerous officers and members and took tremendous pride in the departments' service to the community. He was recognized as the face and leader of the department throughout Western New York. Charlie belonged to numerous fire organizations and associations.
