A true Gentleman and person who made/gives our Village its feeling of being a home. My wife and I talked with him often while visiting our daughter's plot in the cemetery. We always felt great comfort knowing how much he cared and how hard he worked at such a little noticed/appreciated task. Eternal peace and rest.

Uncle Charlie presented me with the most beautiful handmade wooden chest on my wedding day. Some of my favorite conversations with Charlie happened during this last year, as he battled his illness. I will treasure those times and remember his words of wisdom and strength.

Deb( captain of Charlie's Angels ) April , Nikki, Christy, my heart breaks for you all. The loss of such a kindhearted and honorable man. I wish I could be with you tomarrow, to hug you and hold all of your hands, but, mostly, to mourn with you. As you were there for me 26 years ago. Please remember through all of your tears tomarrow, that Charlie passed on what would have been Daddy's 78th birthday. At least they are together again. Look up and smile, because God works in mysterious ways. My love and prayers to all of your family, Jacqueline Saunders -Maytan

Charlie was my first playmate after my father, Norman Lyon, built our house on Crossett Road. Many of my memories of him deal with the injuries he sustained as a child - he got a nail puncture in his foot when playing in a treehouse, burned his hand badly on the stove while reaching for something he shouldn’t have, and broke his arm on the playground at the Holcomb Campus School. Thankfully, he outgrew his injury-prone years, and became a real “pillar” in Geneseo. Every small town should have a Charlie Parent! The photo I’m sending is from 1958, I think, and Charlie is leading the Crossett Road kids home from the bus stop. His sister, Mary Ellen, and I are next, followed by Roddy and Helen Satre, who lived in the house between us, which became Bob and Jean McDonald’s home. I am so sorry he is gone, but his memory is cherished by many. Mary Pat Lyon Stough

We want to pass on all the love and prayers to Charlie’s family. We knew his parents. His mom the teacher with my parents, his dedication and service to the town. He truly is Geneseo. Now and always. I was visiting my fathers grave one day with my 8 year old daughter, telling her about her grandpa and Charlie stopped we chatted. He told us how much he missed my father and that he would always make sure his grave was well groomed. I thanked him. Never a more pure, honest and loving soul. RIP. Thank you for your service.

We are so sorry for your loss. My parents, Mike & Barb Orlando, knew Charlie. After my dad passed, Mom introduced me to Charlie at the cemetery. He took wonderful care of the cemetery and would always chat with us. He was very friendly and always had a smile on his face whenever and wherever I’d see him.

Such a great loss to the community we have lost a member of our family. Charlie has been in my life well for most of my life, being fire dept family. I can remember the after parties following field days. Always fresh corn on the grill and loads of burgers and sausage. All the field days throughout the county and marching in parades. And cleaning the fire trucks and fire hall. Charlie was an big ice cream fan, he would pull in the driveway in his big blue van and we would all load in to go get our fix. We had been in touch over the past few months again, reminiscing and giving each other encouragement to fight. Rest easy Charlie and remember we have an ice cream date!

Charlie Parent was a great friend to Doug and me. His parents were also important to us. He was a fellow firefighter with Doug. He came to our house with the ambulance the many times Doug needed assistance. He built the bookshelves in our Heritage house and then the ramps I needed when my MS made them necessary. He then built the ramps on my Stuyvesant Manor summer home. He was a kind, compassionate, and caring man who loved life, Debbie, his family, his fur babies, and his home town. I treasure that I was able to visit with him before I left for St. Augustine last fall. He will be sadly missed by so many! Sincere condolences to Debbie, her daughters, and their grandchildren. Rest In Peace, dear friend. E. Sue Mills

Such a great loss for Geneseo. Charlie was truly one of the kindest people I've ever known; hi service to the community, his calm deep voice, his great sense of humor, his gentle eyes... our lives were all better because Charlie was there. Much love to the family, the fire department and the whole community of Geneseo.

My condolences to Charlie’s family and friends. Charlie was one hell of a nice guy. He had pride in everything he did , he was the best cemetery care giver that Saint Mary’s Cemetery ever had. Charlie alway had a kind word for everyone and always went out of his way to help others.
It was a great honor knowing Charlie and he will be missed by everyone he knew.
God Speed and Rest In Peace Charlie.

This is so hard to believe. Charlie's parents were my godparents, and my parents and his were very close friends. I remember so fondly when I was staying with my mother at Morgan Estates in the last years of her life and she developed breathing problems, I called 911 and the wonderful Geneseo ambulance crew came. But Charlie also came because he loved my mom and was concerned for her. I breathed a sigh of relief just knowing he was there. That's the kind of person he was. And after my parents were gone, Charlie looked after their graves as he did everyone's at St Mary' Cemetery-- with love and great care. He was one in a million. Barbara Taylor
