I am very sad to hear of Dr. F’s passing. Dr. F. was incredibly kind and took the time to help me find an audiologist for my grandmother in her hometown. He was always enthusiastic about the material he taught and made learning fun. I really enjoyed taking his audiology class, which helped me to pursue a concentration in working with the deaf and hard of hearing. I’ll never forget painting speech muscles on my face and learning how to test hearing in the audiology booth. My deepest condolences to his family.

Beth, boys and your families-
I mourn your loss and the loss of our whole Genesee Valley community. A true man for all times, Jim's impact and indefatigable smiling spirit boating, biking, skiing, arts supporter and audiologist are lessons for us all. How proud you must be of him and I for knowing him. Our times on the fly rail and, gulp, the top rail load ins will live with me forever. His is the very definition of a life gone too soon. May God's grace look down kindly on you all. Beth and Dave Peck

I knew Jim from Junior High through High School. He was a great friend and we did a lot of things together. He was a great friend. It saddens me terribly to learn today of his passing. It sounds like he had a wonderful family and a very full life. He will be missed, but I will remember a lot of great stories about the things we did and the places we went. Rest gently, Jim. I loved you lots.

I am so saddened to hear this. Jim lived down the block from me growing up in Albertson. He would carry my books home from elementary school. I had his name written in a heart in my bathroom which remained there till the day I sold my parents house. Jim will always hold a special place in my heart.

Jim was an avid volunteer for the Head Start program at Action for a Better Community, Inc. for many years. At the time of his death he was a current member of our Health Advisory Committee, as well as a Policy Council member alongside the families we serve. Jim was instrumental in creating the collaboration with Nazareth Audiology Department and ABC to perform hearing tests each year with this students on thousands of children in the Head Start program. His dedication to the children most in need in Monroe County will NEVER be forgotten. For me personally, I will forever be thankful for his friendship, guidance and unwavering smile. To his family, while he had a huge impact on all of the lives he touched, I'm sure you know that his family was the center of his world. He spoke so often of each of you and always had new pictures of his granddaughter to show off. It goes without saying that he will be sorely missed by so many.

Dr. Feuerstein was absolutely the best audiology professor at Geneseo! He knew that the speech path majors really didn't want to take the audiology courses, and often tried to recruit us "to the other side!" I will always remember his enthusiasm and true love for the field of audiology- it was contagious! He found true enjoyment in sharing his knowledge and just being around speech pathology and audiology students. Several years ago we ran into Dr. Feuerstein while cutting down our Christmas tree- he hadn't changed a bit from those wonderful Geneseo years! Sending my deepest condolences to his family.

Jim was my professor when I was getting my Master's at Nazareth College. I was working fulltime and taking classes in the evening. When a class that I needed was only available during the day, he offered to meet with me weekly in his office in order for me to meet the requirements for the course. I remember Jim's kindness and patience as he helped me understand the Science of Sound. Rest in peace, Jim. Mary Haltiner

I am a member of HLAA and have worked with Jim on many occasions while working with our chapter on various programs regarding Hearing Loss. When Jim was at Nazareth a special DAY OF HEARING was organized thanks to HIM and held twice. He also filled in at our monthly chapter meeting leading the HELP program during the absent of our regular leader. Jim was truly a wonderful person and never hesitated to offer his knowledge and help when it was needed.
THIS ISVERY DEEP LOSS FOR US AND ALL PEOPLE WHO

This news is such a shock to the Nazareth College community. Our experience of Jim through many years was his stability, his clear thinking, his commitment to justice, and his wit. I will miss him, but will treasure memories of working together on various projects, and chatting about skiing and the Scouts. Please know that all of you are held closely in prayer these days. Your strong faith will sustain you, and I hope your will find inner peace and solace from many wonderful memories.

Dr. F was my mentor at naz - he was so excited because we had 4 CSD students go into Au.D programs the year I graduated (big deal!) He was so encouraging and enthusiastic. I literally never found another professor that connected with the students as much as he did. I don’t even think I realized how lucky we were to have him until a few years into grad school. Sending love to the family of a man I admired -- and just plain liked a lot. I met Jim when I first arrived to teach at Nazareth College. Within about 5 minutes of meeting me and hearing the challenges I faced in finishing my dissertation research, he decided to help me. He gave access to his lab and helped me jerry-rig some equipment so I could get the EEG readings I needed for my study. I would not have finished "on time" without him - and through the years, I was always cheered and encouraged by seeing and talking to him, even if only for a moment. Your loss is immeasurable and I only hope you are comforted by the fact that he lives on in the lives, professions and hearts of so many.

Beth and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was a great Ski Patrol friend, and a joy to work with while on patrol. He never failed to have a cool head and a perfect plan for treating any injury we would encounter. Additionally, he was just a fun loving and happy guy, who always made our days brighter. He will most certainly be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to all of you, and know that his patrol family is always there.

Dear Beth, Chris, Brian and Dan,
So very heartbroken to hear of Jim’s unexpected passing upon arriving home from Tucson. Always with the biggest smile, he was a joy to work with on productions, especially when he performed in He and She Through the Ages that was produced at Silver Lake. I just loved his rendition of Henry Higgins! So much fun to see him on the stage, as well as all those backstage GCP productions where he so ably and safely commanded the fly rail. He will be so missed by so many. Wishing you comfort and peace in time. Heartfelt condolences in this most difficult time.

Jim was first my instructor at SUNY Geneseo. Then my clinic supervisor. Then a colleague and most recently a valued resource and friend through our mutual involvement with NYSSLHA. Jim’s enthusiasm, wonderful personality and great sense of humor made all interactions with him, from Geneseo to present, a sincere pleasure. Every room was brighter because of Jim’s presence. He has had a profound and lasting influence on so many audiologists and speech-language pathologists and his legacy will live for many years to come. RIP Jim and may the Lord be with your family during these difficult times.

To Jim's family-
I have been crushed since I heard the news. I have been friends with Jim for many years. We met through our work with NYSSLHA and developed a friendship from common goals. Jim has always been the ultimate professional and a warrior for our professions. Most recently, I was with Jim in Albany for lobbying and it was just a few weeks ago that we communicated regarding another professional issue. I will miss his vibrant personality, his laughter and his ferocious defense of our professions. I know that you are very proud of the family man and the professional, but I too am proud to have called him my friend.
