Dear Patty & family,
I send my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your husband & father. Dick was the ever ready smiling Irish man with a smile to warm your heart. He had the voice of Irish New Yorkers. He was always ready to share some humor.
I will always remember that about him. But I also remember working with him on a homecoming float that was just the best.
I'm sorry that I was out of town & unable to attend his services.
I shall say a prayer to the man upstairs for him. I know he's up there smiling down on all of us.
PEACE be with you all @ this time of great sorrow.
Fondly,
Patty Fennell

Dearest Pat, Jim, Margaret and families: We did get to
the calling hours for Dick but couldn't get to the funeral.
Just wanted to tell you all once more how fond Tom and I were of him. He
was Director of
Financial Aid at the College in 1966 when I was hired in that office,as you know,
and I have never known a better person anywhere. He was kind, funny and patient ALWAYS!! I
loved seeing you all come into the office and missed you when I left for Personnel.
What a tribute to his life you are--he was so proud
of you all and I know he was proud of all your children, too. I know you have wonderful memories to get you through the lonely times ahead; and we have a new star
in the heavens. Our
very own
"Danny Boy" has gone home.

As a first year teacher and alone in Geneseo, Patty and Dick Welch welcomed me into their home on many occasions. Both were kind, giving, and full of great advice. Dick could relate as I too was a LI boy who fell in love with an upstate NY girl and for both of us, the rest is history. God Bless Dick, Patty, Margaret and Jimmy.

Dear Patty and Family,
When John Voltz called me to tell me, we were saddened to learn of Richie's passing .
Whenever I think of Richie I think of his broad, leprechaun- like smile which he wore 90% of the time and his neatly combed back hair. (That was a 50's thing but it stuck with him all his life).
He was a good classmate, teammate (we played football together),and just an overall great buddy.
He even had a happy lift in his gait, like someone who was always eager to get somewhere and get something done.
Your children and grand kids should know just how well liked he was by all his school mates and what a good person he was to boot.
I would like to make a contribution to the Baldwin Fund for Education in Richie's name (You know we never called him Richard or Dick) We all know how dedicated he was to education. I hope this is a fitting remembrance.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your and your family.
Peter Vielbig, Shelter Island, NY.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Welch and Ingalls families. Dick was a great man. One of the best memories of my youth was the first year of organized youth football in Geneseo. Dick was the head coach of the Geneseo Bills "B" team. We went 5-2 with a bunch of kids who had never worn helmets before! Dick was a great coach who had something nice to say about every single player at the year end banquet. He was always positive and was a great role model for our team. Thanks Coach

Laughter , always laughter , is the foremost memory I have of Dick. He had a zest for life and for the students he helped with admirable intensity ! Now he is freed from the pain and fear of the recent past. Peace to you, Dick, and God's comfort to Pat, and Jim and Margaret, and all of the grandkids. Love, Gretchen

Dear Pat and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss, and want you to know that both Norm and I hold you in our prayers and thoughts.
I remember Dick so well, for he was a visible force around Geneseo School, the College, and village. He was always unfailingly kind and friendly to me, never missed a chance for a greeting, and seemed to genuinely care about you as a person. He was always so proud of his family, and was quick to share a run-down of how each member was, and where.
Do know of our affection and sympathy,
Stephanie Crissman and Norm Bauer

I have so many happy memories of Mr. Welch. He was always there throughout HS to encourage me in every way I needed. He kicked me in the pants when I needed it, listened when I had teen drama, helped me reach my full potential and got me to the places I wanted to go. When I hit my head at Swain on a ski trip he sat with me the whole time at the first aid tent, on the bus and after calling my parents waited to be sure they were fully filled in on the incident. He checked in on me for several days after that.
Mostly, I will never forget his warm smile. I can see it now. I truly adored him. He will be missed but never forgotten. Xo

Mr "Dad" Welch was always there for me when I needed him. He made growing up a wonderful time for me and gave me many fond memories. I can remember when Margaret and I would walk thru that front door he would always say "Oh boy, there's trouble". And you know even just a few weeks ago when Margaret and I walked thru that same door 30 some years later, I could still see that twinkle in his eyes and could hear him say those wonderful words "Oh boy, here comes trouble. I will miss you dearly Mr Welch. I love you Tracey Jumpa-Bouve'

To Jimmy and Family:
So sorry to hear about Mr. Welch. He always put up with us messing around in the yard, whether it was winter football or boxing in the backyard (and breaking that sapling). He was a good man, good coach, and friend. He will be missed.
Regards,
Bob Shepard

Dick was one of the first people I met when I joined the staff at SUNY Geneseo. He was my mentor and friend. He'll be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him. He was also a caring high school guidance counselor to my children. Rest in peace, friend.

Dear Mrs. Welch and Family, Wow there is so much I could say but I know words cannot bring him back to us all healthy, funny and loving as I so dearly remember him. Mr. Welch was always such a good friend to me and Chuckie. He helped us out in high school many times, from school advice to advice on our young love that began while he watched us grow into a married couple. Chuckie has always said the Mr. Welch was the best football coach he had and always looked up to him. Thank you Margaret for calling me this morning and giving me the sad news. You are all in our thoughts. We love you all and will see you on Sunday. Until then Hugs and Kisses. From, Jessie Aten
