I will never forget when Doug was in the Geneseo Police Dept. and took John Linfoot and me in the police car for a short patrol. Early '50's I think. He stopped a speeder on the Avon Road - bubblegum light and siren. We were just kids, but Doug gave us a lesson we never forgot. He was a hell of a guy. I saw him at Wegman's two or three years ago, and though I could see his health was precarious, he smiled, knew me, and the short talk we had was good. He never mentioned his health. He was made of tough, but kind, stuff. God Bless him.
