From fall 1968 until fall 2020, Scott Ray and I shared a deep and abiding friendship through dance, theatre, travel and politics. He was like my big "dance brother" at the University of Utah, my choreographer at "The Stephen Foster Story," my colleague in the academic ranks of higher education and my dear friend whose frequent emails and annual visits to my home were greatly anticipated and appreciated. It was a friendship as long as my adult life. How very lucky I was to have known and been so positively influenced by this wonderful man.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to Scott's family. I've known Scott for over 40 years; first as a client, then as a friend. He was a wonderful and kind man. I used to see him and Sally Heitzman at the Omega/Mae's restaurant and occasionally at a theater event. I will certainly miss him.

Scott gave me my first job as a dancer in the Stephen Foster Story. He sparked an interest in dance and musical theater in more students than he knew. He was always interested in nurturing the talent he could see in each of us even if we were timid in believing. He had an amazing sense of style and I remember some of his choreography to this day. I was fortunate to see him the past few years when I would go the the Dance Ensemble concerts. Debbie Scodese-French would coordinate our outing at the Big Tree Inn prior to the concert. What a wonderful memory that is and I will hold it dear to my heart. May he rest in peace.

Scott was such a huge part of my life, stepping in to be a father to me after my own father had passed away. He gave me so many opportunities and showed me so much love and care. My life is blessed to have had him in it. I will miss him and think of him every day. Thank you for everything, Scott. I love you.
