Obituary of Eloise C. Terho

Eloise C. Terho, age 95, of Pittsford, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Morgan Estates in Geneseo. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan P. Terho in 2007, as well as by brothers, Lee and Phelps Crump and sister, Sally Driessen. She is survived by her children, Randall (Pat) Terho of Geneseo, Brian Terho of Rochester, Vicki (Drew) Fondrk of Fitchburg, WI, grandchildren, Ben (Cinthia) Fondrk, Ted (Gabrielle) Fondrk, Chris (Jill) Terho, Emily (Brian) Tuttle, Greg (Dave Snyder) Terho, Adam Terho and Shana Terho, 10 great-grandchildren, brother, David (Claire) Crump, brother-in-law, Wilhelmus Driessen, sister-in-law, Evelyn Kovell and many nieces and nephews. Eloise was born December 7, 1924 in Pittsford, NY the daughter of Samuel and Ella Sackett Crump. Her young life was shaped by the death of her father in 1936, after which she took on many family responsibilities. She attended Pittsford schools, NYS College for Teachers at Albany, American Institute for Foreign Trade, University of Rochester, and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study in Spain. She was a US Navy WWII veteran, specializing in weather forecasting as well as performing with the WAVES "Singing Platoon". Eloise taught high school Spanish in the Pittsford Central School District for many years. She was a nurturing mentor to her students and led numerous trips to Spain. Following retirement, she contributed her energy as a volunteer to a variety of community entities, including the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford. Eloise and Allan shared many interests including world travel, camping, bowling, golfing, skiing, walking the family dogs, and entertaining friends and family at their Keuka Lake cottage. Eloise was generous with her time and her heart, and made it a point to attend and support the endeavors of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to laugh and tell stories and talk about anything and everything – especially sports! She will be remembered fondly by her students and friends, and deeply missed by her family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at both Laurelwood at the Highlands at Pittsford and Morgan Estates for the devoted attention and care she received. Due to COVID-19 there will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford's Memorial Garden.
