Obituary of Frances Battaglia Kelly

Frances B. Kelly, age 98, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. She was predeceased by her husband James in 2013. They were longtime residents of Lima Rd. in Geneseo. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rose Battaglia, brothers, Russell (Sally), Charles (Marie), Sam (Joyce) Battaglia and brother in law, Milton Dickens. She is survived by her children, Rich (Rose) Kelly of Hurley, NY, Karen (Wayne Swede) Rumfola of Geneseo, grandchildren, Kellie (Jamie) Nevin of Avon, Theresa (Michael) Abbott of East Greenbush, NY, Marianne (Patrick) Shaughnessy of Plattsburg, NY, and Kathryn Kelly of Buffalo, great grandchildren, Rylee and Natalie Nevin, Michael Abbott, Emma and Benjamin Shaughnessy, sister, Geri Dickens of Venice, FL, many nieces and nephews. Fran was born December 6, 1921 in Geneseo, NY the daughter of Charles and Lena Pecora Battaglia. Fran's joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to hear about their adventures, accomplishments and loved sitting and visiting with them. Fran was a dedicated educator in the Caledonia Central School District where she was a third grade teacher and eventually a reading specialist retiring in 1983. Fran was active in the Geneseo community as a member of APOG, the Geneseo Garden Club and the Geneseo Seniors. She loved being with people. As a young adult Fran was an avid bowler, golfer and a longtime member of the Livingston County Club. Geneseo was home for the 98 years of Fran's life. She loved everything about the town and was proud to call it her home. No prior calling hours. Funeral Mass Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10am at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Road in Geneseo.
