I am just learning of Jane's death today, at the end of the Alumni Weekend of our Emmanuel College 55th Reunion. Jane and I were good friends during our college years and then we both went in different directions - I to Europe for 5 years and Jane off to the Middle East in the Peace Corps, which was very new at the time. I have never forgotten her and her brilliance and sense of generous service, so it is delightful to read these testimonies here from people who met her much later in life and appreciated the same wonderful qualities about her that I knew when we were younger.
May you friends and mentees and family members be comforted with a sense of how deeply she was appreciated by so many.

Dr. Hogan was an amazing mentor to me! I rented out the basement of her house during my grad school year and will never forget her generosity and the hospitality she offered me!

Jane was my favorite education professor at SUNY Geneseo. I learned a great deal under her tutelage, both as an undergrad and as a grad student. She always had wonderful stories, and I will be forever grateful for the encouragement she gave me over the years. She will be sadly missed in our community.

Jane was a major help to me when I arrived in Geneseo in 1992 as a newly-minted professor. After that, Jane developed into a dear friend. It was my pleasure to
celebrate many birthdays and holidays with Jane. When it came to dinner parties, Jane always went out of her way to "do everything just right". She was an excellent cook and spinner of entertaining yarns. Also, Jane was always a welcome guest. .
At SUNY, Jane was experienced, versatile, knowledgeable, and hard-working.I didn't get to see Jane much during her time in assisted living, but the "good old days" with Jane were outstanding.
Jane: I miss you. Don .

Jane was a friend, with much in common in our Teaching experiences. We worked together in Odyssey of the Mind for many years, sharing wonderful experiences with the tournaments, and arranging the New York State events. Her sense of humor and organized way of keeping everything on track made it fun to be with her. I'll remember her with fondness. My thoughts go out to her family. With love, Susan

I will be forever grateful for Jane’s friendship during our 50-year-relationship. It began with the guidance and support she gave me during my first years of teaching music in the Weston (MA) schools, before she left to gain her PhD and leadership positions in the New York State system, principally as a professor at SUNY Geneseo. Jane was one of only two of my Boston area friends who trekked west to attended my wedding in Beaver Falls, PA, was stalwart who helped mount the celebration of my late father in law’s life. Jane was a fine cook; among other dishes, she taught me to make a quiche, although I still haven’t got the crème brulée right! I’ll never forget the ‘royal tea’ we shared during a visit to my house, when we watched the wedding of Charles and Diana. That’s when she bequeathed to me her wonderful collection of Dansk cookware. For these and many more memories, I’m thankful to have known Jane Hogan.

Joe and Lucille Kane met Jane at St. Mary's Church in 1988. Our friendship was enhanced when we joined the Ecumenical Book Review. Jane reviewed a book every year for years even to the point where introductions about her were no longer needed. We thank the Lord for allowing Jane to be a part of our lives.

To Jane's beloved family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I am so fortunate to have been her student at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I also spent time as a judge for Oddessy of the Mind via her invitation. She loved people and was a staunch advocate for her students and all of the organizations she supported. She was a good human being, and she will be missed.
