Obituary of Mary Grace Silfies

Mary Grace Silfies, age 88, of Akron, NY, previously of Piffard, died Monday, March 16, 2020 at The Brothers of Mercy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clarence, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, George "Punch" Silfies and brother, Frank Rose Sr. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Karen (Frank) Snyder of Akron, Jayne (Dennis) Snyder of Batavia, Lori (Tom) Ellison of Venice, FL, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, sister in law, Carol Rose of Greigsville, many nieces and nephews. Mary Grace was born October 18, 1931 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Thomas and Carolyn Vangalio Rose. She retired from AKZO Nobel Salt Mine in Retsof as a Secretary. Mary Grace was a member of the Retsof Hose Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long time member of St. Lucy's Church and most recently attended Calvary Baptist Church in Akron. Mary Grace's family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Brother's of Mercy Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Mary Grace over the last few months. Due to COVID-19 there will be no prior calling hours. Private Graveside Services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesee County Cancer Assistance, 127 North St., Batavia, NY 14020.
