Obituary of Janice G. Wolfer

Janice G. Wolfer, age 99, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Village Green Nursing Home in LeRoy, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Virgil Wolfer in 1977 and her daughter, Nancy Thompson in 2013.

She is survived by her children, James (Linda) Wolfer of Newark, DE, Kevin (Lorraine) Wolfer of Lyons, Ardell (Douglas) Olin of Batavia, son in law, Cecil Thompson of Nunda, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janice was born April 6, 1920 in Fillmore, NY, the daughter of Lynn and Ruth Wells Gleason. She graduated from the Geneseo Normal School, class of 1942. She earned her master's degree from SUNY Geneseo in 1982. Janice was a retired reading teacher from the Letchworth Central School District. In her retirement she worked as a guide at the Genesee Country Village & Museum. She was an active member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 9-11 AM at the Geneseo United Methodist Church followed by her Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM with Rev. Keith Griswold officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Fillmore, NY.
