Obituary of Samuel E. Sanderson

Samuel E. Sanderson, age 90, of Groveland, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his residence. He was predeceased by his brother, John Sanderson and sister, Mary Smith. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty McCaughey Sanderson, sons, Dennis (Linda) Rowell of Hamburg, Mark Sanderson of Silver Lake, David (Sandy) Sanderson of York, grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, John, Brian and Eric, many great and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Samuel was born March 22, 1929 in Groveland, NY the son of Samuel and Harriet Young Sanderson. He was a US Army WWII Veteran. Sam was a retired Insurance Agent for Farm Family based out of Bath. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Mt. Morris where he earned the title Master Mason and was the District Deputy Grand Master for the Livingston District in 1972-73. Sam was a longtime member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church in Groveland and a member of Woodlyn Hills Golf Course in Nunda. No prior calling hours. A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 1 PM at Woodlynn Hills Golf Course, 8780 N. State St. in Nunda. Interment will be Private in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sparta First Presbyterian Church, 4681 Scottsburg Rd., Groveland, NY 14462 or the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642.
