I didn't know Mr. Levey, but I am indebted to him! I was searching online just a month ago to see if I could find some information related to the submarine on which my father served in WWII—the Dace. The very first item I came across was an image of Mr. Levey's wonderful painting of the Dace rescuing men off of the grounded Darter. Like many veterans of WWII, my father hardly spoke about his experiences in the war, and I had no idea of this episode during his service. It was the beginning of my learning more about an important part of my father's life, and Mr. Levey's painting captured my imagination like dry military records never could. Mr. Levey—I had planned to send you a note telling you about your painting and what it meant to me, but sadly, now I won't have the chance. I will just have to tell your family, and hope you know!

Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this trying time. Poppy was a special person and a great friend to all who knew him. I remember the Easter dinners and other dinners at the clubhouse and his famous naps on the couch. His smile and quick wit will be missed greatly. God bless you all during this time and always.
