Obituary of Shirley June Schwan

Shirley June Schwan, age 85, of York Road West in York, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her brothers, Glen, Howard and Carl Crawford.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Andrew Schwan, children, Nancy (Gerald) Giglio of Retsof, Eric (Janie) Schwan of York, Amy (Steve) Lakin of Fort Smith, AR, Kurt (Cynthia) Schwan of Woodstock, GA, 9 grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Giglio, Jonathan (Melody) Giglio, Andrea (Daniel) McDermott, Billy Schwan, Johnston and Leigh Burdick, Emma Lakin, Kacey and Corey Schwan, great grandchildren, Jake and Layla Giglio, many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born June 2, 1932 in York, NY the daughter of Willard and Beatrice Cole Crawford. She was a Teller for the GVTA Federal Credit Union in Retsof for many years. Shirley was the last of the charter members of the York Auxiliary Club and a longtime member of the York United Presbyterian Church. She was an avid walker and enjoyed spending time walking with the Hoofers and Woofers.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 AM at the York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michelle Sumption officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
