I remember Bruce as the driver of the red and white Geneseo Fire Department ambulance which would respond on the occasions that the Cuylerville Ambulance was busy, (or was unable the crew up), to medical emergencies at the Elisha House, (formerly, LaDelpha’s), in the village of Leicester. Bruce embodied the spirit of volunteerism present in some of the members of the faculty and staff of SUNY Geneseo. Without volunteers like Bruce Godsave, SUNY Geneseo could easily be regarded by the residents of the surrounding communities as a SUNY at Laputa, an academic island on the hillside overlooking the Genesee Valley.
The Elisha House has been closed for some time, the residents of that group home saw the arrival of red and white ambulance as a godsave.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Bruce. He was a wonderful man. He taught my children how to be good Acolytes at St. Mary's church. He also started to teach me how to be an adult Acolyte at funerals. We have served together a few times. He will missed. You and your entire family will be in my prayers.

Dear Carol,
Was shocked and so very sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. I have fond memories of him as a fellow student in the '60's and subsequently seeing him on campus and occasionally in the Village. Throughout my 25 years working with families, infants and preschoolers in the Holcomb Building, Bruce was always helpful and kind in coordinating his students' participation in our programs.
Sincerest sympathy to you and your family,
Chloe

Dear Carol,
I was in your Education of the Hearing Impaired class of 1979. I returned to being a speech language pathologist, but certainly used many things that you and Bruce taught us. You were ahead of your time in espousing a unit approach, which is still state of the art.
I have many fond memories of times in class and at your lovely home. You and Bruce put yourselves whole-heartedly into teaching, and I will always be grateful. You have my sincerest sympathy.

Dr. Godsave was an amazing person. He was one of my professors and an active community member. When my Uncle, Father William Gordinier, was taken to a hospital in Rochester. Bruce rode with him in the ambulance.
This exemplifies the selfless manner in which he conducted his life. Serving others through altar serving, first responder work or Rotary Club, Bruce will be missed not only as a mentor andoder but also a brother.

Dear Carol and Family,
I was surprised and saddened to learn of Bruce's recent passing. I am so sorry for you and your family; I have such fine memories of Bruce, going back so many years together. Our dinners, flowers from his greenhouse, his fun cars, and his counted -on quips about any and all topics, which almost always made me chuckle!
Whenever Galludet is mentioned around here I always think of you and your stories of Washington when you and Bruce were here as he pursued his education. And so, I grieve with you as you all mourn his death.
Please know that I will pass this sad news along to Norm today. I'm certain that he would send his sympathies as well. Geneseo has lost a fine man and a valued member of the community! He will be sorely missed.
In sympathy and affection,
Stephanie Crissman and Norm Bauer
Geneseo/Silver Spring,MD.

Dear Carol , Bayard and William.
Brucie, was an important person in my life . We grew up together. We were together everyday for eighteen years. We cousins were a tight group. We still are.
I was so very proud of Brucie,s accomplishments. He went on to marry a beautiful woman with a heart of gold. I know he was so proud of his two sons. His academic life was epic. There will always be a hole in my heart from his passing. It will be next to the one that came from his sister JoAnns passing.
All my love to you Carol , Bayard and Wil
Thoughts and prayers,
Carl & Ann Marie (rere)

Carol I am sorry to read this but truly grateful for your husbands conversations with me about teaching. Even more so when he put a gentle hand on my shoulder after he had driven our infant son and myself to Golisano..."It will be alright and you are in my prayers" I was a nervous wreck and those words helped to calm me so I could focus.
May my prayers now be returned for you and that you may feel the comfort you need at this time.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Godsave was my professor both under grad and grad school. The degree in deaf education wouldn't have been the same without him. I will always remember his comment to me about speaking up more in class since I had good ideas that should be shared. I enjoyed keeping in touch with him at St. Mary's church over the years. He will be greatly missed.
