My sincerest sympathies to the family of La Senorita Schwan. I was a member of Vera's "first" Spanish class at Pavilion Central. She instilled in me a life long love for languages, a curiosity for the history of Spain, and she was certainly unlike any other nun I had ever come across in my young lifetime! I was jealous of her previous Kearney students that had traveled to Spain & Ireland, but was privileged to accompany her to NYC, which at the time was both daring and enlightening for a shy bookworm from Pavilion. She taught us to embrace culture as well as language, and to this day I hear some songs and Christmas carols, particularly "O Holy Night" in Spanish, even when being sung in English. I remember her fondly, and with great respect. May she rest well in blessed peace, Jackie.

Aunt Vera,
It doesn't need a special day
To bring you to our mind
For days without a thought of you
Are very hard to find.
We love you always,

Vera was a co-worker and dear friend for many years at Pavilion Central. What I remember most is how cheerful and positive she always was with her students. I was lucky enough to travel with Vera to Puerto Rico where she shared so much of herself with us.
Every so often I would run into Vera at Leroy PT or other local spots, always cheerful. She was a wonderful blessing to the community.

My condolences to Vera's wonderful family. She is already missed by all of us at the LCCNR. I am blessed to have known both Vera and Martha. May they join each other and be in peace. Bless you all. Jenn

I remember Miss Schwan as my 12th Grade English Teacher at Pavilion Central School, in 1977-1978. I would stop by her classroom before going home, and visit with her. She was a wonderful person, a dear sweet Lady, and always was positive and optimistic about life and how even troubled times will never last forever. She will be sadly missed, but God has called her home with him. God Bless Her, and she made a blessed impact on me just for having known her in my life.

Greetings!
Vera was a valued colleague for many years at Pavilion. We had great times learning valuable Spanish words to use while picketing (She kept the picketing sticks in her garage for reuse over the years.) She was always ready to try something new and fun.
Her family was always uppermost in her life. But don't forget "Bonnie", her dog, whom I always accused her of naming after me.
Great person, always loving and laughing, and honest.
God has a great person in His kingdom.

Miss Schwan was one of my favorite teachers at Pavilion Central. So very sorry to hear of your great loss of such a big hearted person. She was without a doubt an angel walking among us. Through her generosity and goodness she has surely guided many young wayward youth to Gods doorstep. May she Rest In Peace.

Vera was such a wonderful loving and caring woman. I am so grateful for knowing her for so long, back to her Sister Mary Alena days and the musicals at Bishop Kearney that Martha took us to.
I never saw her frown or show any unhappiness. She was a delight to talk to and always made people laugh, I will remember her always. May she Rest In Peace.
