Obituary of Marjorie L. Root

Marjorie L. Root, 93, of Haley Ave. in Geneseo died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia, NY. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Joyce) Root of Charlottesville, VA, Barbara (Doug) Higgins of York, Roger (Kathleen) Root of Geneseo, daughter in law, Maureen Root of Geneseo, grandchildren, Kate, Kelly, Molly and James Root, Megan (Joseph) Bucci, Eric (Rochelle) Pray, Ann Marie (David) Smith, Andrew Root, 5 great grandchildren, brother, Robert Baldeck of Mumford. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years William Bradley Root, her son Gary Root, and her sister Helen Cameron. She was born April 21, 1919 in Mumford, NY the daughter of James and Neva Schwingel Baldeck. Marjorie graduated from Caledonia-Mumford High School, earned a Teaching Certificate from Geneseo Normal School and then a BS in Education from SUNY Geneseo in 1964. She started her teaching career in a one-room school house in Riga, NY and later taught in the York Central School District. Marjorie was a loving wife and wonderful Mother. She raised her family in the Village of York, later residing in Clarks Summit, PA and Kenneth City, FL. She was a member of the Mumford United Presbyterian Church and then the York United Presbyterian Church. Marjorie enjoyed music, signing in church choirs, playing the piano and organ. No Prior Calling Hours. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the York United Presbyterian Church at 3 PM with Pastor Raymond Lindquist officiating.
