Obituary of Father Robert O. Moore

Robert O Moore, known as Father Robert at the Abbey of the Genesee Monastery in Piffard, NY died Saturday, May 19, 2012. Father Robert was 90. He is survived by his fellow Trappist Monks with whom he resided at the Abbey of the Genesee for 30 years, sister, Betty Moore Lorente of Valladolid, Spain, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born March 6, 1922 in Boonville, Indiana the son of James and Katherine McDonald Moore. Robert spent his boy hood years in the Detroit area before moving to the Bronx, NY. After graduation of high school he enrolled in Maryknoll Missionaries. Father Robert was ordained a Priest in 1949 and spent 30 years as a missionary in East Africa. He joined the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard in 1981. Visitation will be held at Abbey of the Genesee on Tuesday from 3-6:40 PM and Wednesday 2-9:45 AM. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 9:45 AM at Abbey of the Genesee, 3250 River Rd. in Piffard. Burial will be in the Abbey of the Genesee Cemetery.
