I was a naive freshman at Geneseo when I first met John. Over my college years he mentored and counseled me with that wonderful touch of his. My last time with John and Joan was totally by serendipity: on a chance visit to Geneseo with a dear friend and fellow alum, I saw him at a sidewalk restaurant table. I was so touched that he remembered me and, sadly now, we said our goodbyes. As the saying goes, Earth's loss is heaven's gain. And I send my heartfelt condolences to you, Joan. What a pair! You helped to make Geneseo what it is today. Please take care! Jeff Olma 1970

We send our sympathies to Joan and his family, in the loss their dear companion and family member. We considered John our friend, also, and felt our loss as his health became more and more fragil; but, ".. God wasn't finished with him yet..." and memories of John and his contributions both musical, guidance-wise, and monetary support to the many causes which touched his heart
continued.
All of us who knew him are the richer for that.
with affection,
Stephanie Crissman and Norm Bauer

I graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1981 and saw Mr. Davis for almost 3 years while there. He was immeasurable in helping me in coming to terms with some very difficult issues. He had a great sense of humor and could always put a smile on my face. I always looked forward to our counseling sessions. What a sweet, gentle man he was. He sure made a difference in my life when I felt most alone. God speed John.
