Obituary of Frank T. Twidale

Frank T. Twidale passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch, NJ, after a long illness. He was 93. Frank was born on August 10, 1919 in Elnora, Alberta, Canada, the son of Elizabeth Jane Tuma Twidale and Arthur Musgrave Twidale. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Jean Raye MacKillop Twidale in 2012; and his brothers John Arthur Twidale and William Twidale of Saskatchewan and Alberta, Canada, respectively. He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Bruce) Twidale Kennedy of Centennial, Colorado, USA; Amy (Mario) Ferro of Red Bank, New Jersey, USA; grandson Nicholson Twidale Kennedy of Centennial, Colorado; brother, Joseph Harold (Edna) Twidale of Alberta, Canada, and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Frank graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1946 with a degree in Civil Engineering. While employed on a project surveying Canada after graduation, he met Jean Raye MacKillop in Nova Scotia. They were married on October 14, 1950, in Toronto, Canada. After working for the Canadian government for several years, he was recruited by Rochester Telephone Company in Rochester, New York, USA. The couple moved to Rochester in 1956 and then to nearby Geneseo, NY in 1960, where he was the head of the Geneseo office of Rochester Telephone Company. Frank and Jean became citizens of the United States in 1961. Their daughters were born and grew up in Geneseo. He retired from Rochester Telephone Company in 1980 and became President of LivCo Telephone Consulting Services until his final retirement. Frank and Jean Twidale were members of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Geneseo for 50 years. He was also a decades-long member of the Geneseo Masons, the Geneseo Rotary Club, and The American Society of Professional Engineers. Frank was a voracious reader with a deep interest in history, specifically of the time periods of the American Civil War, the Revolutionary War, the Norman Conquest of England and ancient Rome. His daughters fondly remember trips to Gettysburg, PA; Washington, DC; Plymouth, MA, and Northern England to examine Hadrian's Wall while they were growing up, as well as many summers traveling to Nova Scotia to see their mother's family. Heather and Amy would like to thank Mary Olivadoti, as well as Deacon Joseph Richichi of the parish of Christ the King Catholic Church in Long Branch, NJ, for his kind visits and support during their Dad's final illness. We also thank the staff of Monmouth Care Center, St. Barnabas Hospice, and the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 23 Main Street, Geneseo, with The Rev. J. Eric Thompson officiating. Interment of consecrated ashes will follow the ceremony in St. Michael's Churchyard. All are invited to a lunch in St. Michael's undercroft after the interment. Memorial donations to the Frank and Jean Twidale Memorial Fund may be sent to St. Michael's.
