Obituary of William E. Marks

William E. "Bill" Marks, 76, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at his home on Second St., in Geneseo, NY. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie (John) Burkhart of Groveland, Gretchen (Jeffrey) Crane of Geneseo, grandchildren, Mallory Irene Crane and Noah William Crane, sisters, Margaret "Pegi" Warner of Geneseo, Pauline (Lester) Johns of Oakfield, Ethel Kiehle of Livonia, brother, Robert (Darlene) Marks of IL, many nieces and nephews including Robert Marks Jr. and Robin Marks who were like his sons. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Betty Marks in 1995, his parents Alexander and Edna Marks Sr., his brothers, Charles and Alexander Marks Jr., his sisters, Matilda Harvey, Marion Wielgoszynski, and Dorothy Kraft. He was born November 17, 1933 in Warsaw, NY the son of Alexander and Edna Jones Marks Sr. Bill graduated from Geneseo High School and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as Clerk of Session. He was a member and Past President of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club and a member of the Geneseo Community Players. Bill retired as Meat Manager from the Star Market in Geneseo. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 7-9 PM and on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 2-4, 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carson Mouser officiating. Burial will be in Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 31 Center St., Geneseo, NY 14454 or Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
