Obituary of Paul J. Parks

Paul J. Parks, 90, of Retsof Rd. in Retsof, was escorted to heaven by those that walked before him in faith on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, encircled by flights of angels. Mr. Parks had been a resident of the Avon Nursing Home prior to his admission to the hospital.Joyfully he is reunited with his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Parker Parks, who predeceased him in 2006.Paul will always cherished by his daughter Paulette and her fiance Randy Tubiolo, granddaughters, Jennifer (Tim Hill) Burch and Jacquelyn (Les) Jackson, great grandchildren, Dakota and Kaitlyn Hill, Christopher and Justin Jackson, brother, James "Buddy" Parks, sister in law, Alice Parker, cousin, Ruth Parks, several nieces and nephews.He was born May 29, 1919 in the Town of York, the son of John and Marie McArdle Parks. Paul was a graduate of Greigsville High School and a longtime member of St. Lucy's Church in Retsof. He was retired from the International Salt Mine in Retsof where he worked as shipping and receiving clerk for 43 years. Paul was a member and secretary/treasurer of the Retsof Hose Fire Department and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Prior to losing his sight, Paul loved to fish, golf and bowl, but he will be remembered most for his sense of humor and pranks.Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Sunday July 5, 2009 from 1-4 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Lucy's Church in Retsof with Father Edward Dillon officiating.
