Obituary of Thomas W. Jarvis

THOMAS W. JARVIS, Jr. RETSOF / GROVELAND: Thomas W. Jarvis, Jr. age 60 of Retsof and Groveland died Sunday February 22, 2009 at his mother's home in Retsof. He was born June 28, 1948 in Oneonta, NY the son of Thomas W. Jarvis, Sr. and Barbara (Post) Richardson. He attended Geneseo High School and had been employed at the G & W Railroad in Retsof where he had retired from. He had also worked at the former AKZO Nobel Salt Mine in Retsof. He was a US Marine Corp veteran having served 2 years in Vietnam. He was a member of the York VFW Post 634, the National Rifle Association, and a former member of the York Sportsman's Club. He is predeceased by his wife Margie Jarvis in 1999, brother David Jarvis in March 1996, step-father David Richardson on Jan. 13, 2007 and a nephew Deryck Sibley in March 1997. He is survived by his children Tricia Davis (Michael) of Darien, Brian Jarvis (Jesse) of Leicester, Michelle Froebels (Scott) of Corfu, Nicole Jarvis of Leicester; his mother Barbara Richardson of Retsof; a brother Ernest Jarvis of Mt. Morris; his grandchildren Ryan, Bryce, and Sarah Davis of Darien, Autumn Jarvis of Corfu, Luke Jarvis of Leicester, Mark Jarvis of Rochester; nieces and nephews Jason Jarvis (Christy) of Geneseo, Nathan Jarvis of Ithaca, Heather Brasten (Chad) of Geneseo, and several other generations of nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street in Geneseo, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM with the Rev. Christopher Ortego of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Geneseo officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
