Obituary of Gertrude E. Gray

Gertrude E. Gray, 83, a resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, died there Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was a longtime resident of Lakeville-Groveland Rd. in Geneseo and more recent Morgan Estates. She is survived by her children Susan (Roy) Teitsworth of Geneseo, Cindy (Charles) Wolcott of Rush, Robert (Anna) Gray of McKinney, TX, grandchildren, Kathryn (Stephen) Maloney, Kerry (Michael) McMillan, Jesse (Kelley Crawford) Teitsworth, great grandchildren, Sky and Meadow McMillan, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William Gray in 2004. She was born August 18, 1924 in Rochester, NY the daughter of James and Sarah Kennedy Stewart. Gert was a life long resident of Geneseo and member of the Groveland Federated Parish. She graduated from Geneseo Central High School and the Rochester Business Institute and began her career in the insurance field. She operated the family farm on Lakeville-Groveland Rd. in Geneseo with her husband William until his retirement. From 1969 until her retirement she served as a clerk in the Livingston County Treasurer's office in Geneseo. Gert enjoyed working in her yard, and she loved animals. She was especially fond of horses and dogs. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Wednesday, April 23 from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Groveland Federated Parish. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Groveland.
