Like my brother Steven I have many wonderful memories of Uncle Sandy and Aunt Marion visiting Beulah in the summer. Then when they retired they were always present for special events in my children's lives. They were blessed to have another set of "Grandparents". I will miss Uncle Sandy a lot but am happy to have had the chance to come out and visit him last year.

I remember Sandborn liking to have a good time. He was a lot of fun. When they were at Aunt Estella's in July, my Dad would take me up there for a picnic with hot dogs, marshmallows & fireworks. I would usually spend some time with Sandra when we were growing up and I remember going to the beach at Crystal Lake with them & swimming. The first time I jumped off the second level of the dock, I was with Sandra & we dared each other so we jumped together. After their retirement in Benzie County, I saw them at church every Sunday. We have missed them.

So many wonderful childhood memories of Uncle Sandy, going to the beach in Beulah, then ice cream cones, sometimes a ride on the little train at the Dairy Queen, climbing the dunes at Sleeping Bear, fishing on Duck Lake in Interlochen, Fourth of July picnics in the yard at the house on Eldridge Road.
Later, after he retired and returned to Beulah to live I was blessed to spend more time with him as an adult and to be friends with him. I was glad he felt free to call me when his lawn mower wouldn't start or he needed help with storm windows or something. He was like another father, easier to talk to than my own sometimes.
There was never a time in my life when I didn't know beyond doubt that Uncle Sandy loved me just the way I was. All of my Aunts and Uncles were/are special but he was more special than most.
I can see him now sitting around the table with Aunt Violet, Uncle Edgar, Aunt Donna, Uncle Alden, Aunt May, Uncle Dud, Dad and the rest, the game is Pinochle of course, and they are laughing and having a great time telling stories about the good old days.
I will miss him very much.
Steven

I remember playing in the basement and having popcorn in a large roasting pan on Weekends with Mom and Dad Eldridge. I was so lucky to have been close to Dad Eldridge. He always made me feel like part of the family.
