Obituary of Gary D. Root

Gary D. Root, 62, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at his residence on West Seneca Circle in Geneseo. He is survived by his wife Maureen Galligan Root, daughter Megan(Joseph) Bucci of Geneseo, grandson Jacob Bucci of Geneseo, mother Marjorie Root of Geneseo, sister Barbara(Douglas) Higgins of York, brothers Ronald(Joyce) Root of Havre de Grace, MD, Roger(Kathleen) Root of Geneseo, father in law James Galligan of Geneseo, sisters in law Paula(Thomas) Morsch of Rochester, Jamie(James) Cullen of NJ, aunt and uncle Gladys and Robert Baldeck of Rochester, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William Bradley Root in 2003. He was born December 11, 1945 in Warsaw, NY the son of William Bradley and Marjorie Baldeck Root. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Gary retired from the State University of New York at Geneseo in December of 2004 where he served as Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance for over 23 years. He was a member of the Geneseo Kiwanis Club and Livingston Country Club in Geneseo. Visitation will be held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo on Monday, June 23 from 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the York United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neil Frood officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo at the convenience of the family.
