Obituary of Joseph J. Basar

PIFFARD: Joseph J. Basar, 84, of Main St. in Piffard, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. He is survived by his wife Lois Moore Basar, his children, Wendy(Richard) Sisson of Avon, Michael(Laurie) Basar f Amherst, Jon(Gina) Basar of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph(Gretchen) Basar of Denver, CO, 3 grandsons, Joseph, Liam and Matthew, his brother, Mike Basar of Solon, OH, his sister in law, Geraldine Basar of Seven Hills, OH, several nieces and nephews. He was born August 3, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Joseph and Caroline Zeleznjak Basar. Joe served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Rifle Sharpshooter and upon his discharge he received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 1 bronze star, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Joe was a well known self employed general contractor throughout the area until his retirement. Visitation will be held at The Sweet Briar in Geneseo on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 6-9 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church in Geneseo with Father Edward Dillon officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneseo.
