Obituary of Elizabeth J. Adams

Elizabeth J. "Wid" Adams, age 91, of Second St. in Geneseo, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas in 2004. She is survived by her children, Judith (Ponch) Mendoza of Geneseo, Thomas Richard (Cindy) Adams of Rochester, 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shannon Traugott) Mendoza, Alejandro (Eileen) Mendoza, Zachary (Patricia) Mendoza, Thomas G. (Jenna) Adams, Rachel (Scott Englert) Celmer and Tabatha Adams, 7 great grandchildren. Elizabeth was born September 22, 1923 in Geneseo, NY the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Haynes Durney. She was a World War II Navy Veteran. Wid was employed by Garlock Inc. in Palmyra, NY before her retirement. She was an avid artist and animal lover. Wid was a member of the Geneseo Garden Club, Geneseo Historical Society, APOG, Genesee Valley Conservancy and St. Mary's Church in Geneseo. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo with Father Edward Dillon officiating.
