Obituary of Roy A. McCracken

Roy A. McCracken, age 76, of North Spruce St. in Batavia, formerly of Retsof, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathryn McCracken, brothers, Jerald and Ronald McCracken. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn "Puddie" McCracken, children, Robert McCracken of Chili, Brenda Harrington of Geneseo, Melissa (Mark Hamilton) McCracken, Roy's loving caregivers of Stafford, Mark McCracken of Batavia, beloved grandchildren, Morganne and Matthew Harrington, Keegan McCracken, sisters, Valeria (William) Phillips of Penn Yan, Linda (William) Lubanski of York, sisters in law, Ruth McCracken of Batavia, Beverly (Gene) Widdowson of Wellsville, Donna (Richard) Ellis of York, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to the staff at the New York State Veterans Home of Batavia for Roy's wonderful care. Roy was born January 8, 1938 in Fowlerville, NY the son of George H. and Kathryn Dyke McCracken. He was a US Air Force Veteran. Roy retired as Highway Superintendent for the Town of York. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and University of Syracuse Basketball fan. Friends may call Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 1-4 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11 AM at the York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St. in York with Pastor Michelle Sumption officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NYS Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Ave., Batavia, NY 14020.
