Beverly was more than just a mother, grandmother, and wife. She was a force of nature, always full of energy and constantly working on something. I was inspired by her love for life and her passion for the things she cared about. She was an avid reader, her favorite being greek and roman history.
Gardening was one of her many passions. Whenever I would visit her, I could always find her in the backyard tending to her plants or in the basement caring for her seedlings. Her garden was her pride and joy, and she loved cooking with the fruits of her labor for guests. Her cooking was a delight for all who were lucky enough to dine at her table. She was an incredible self taught cook.
But her greatest love was for her horses. She had dreamed of owning her own small horse farm since she was a child, and was able to make that dream a reality. Nothing made her happier than being in the barn with her horses, her dog, and her kitties. Some of my fondest memories are of spending time with her in the barn, brushing, feeding and caring for her horses.
My moms love for nursing was contagious and inspired me to become a nurse as well. She was my biggest cheerleader in college. I would often look to her for guidance in my career and her unconditional support. My moms nursing career spanned more than 40 years, with most of it spent in dialysis. She touched so many lives and was loved by so many patients.
After retiring, my mom was finally able to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. She spent her days traveling, seeing her grandchildren, and caring for her beloved horses. Her love of travel took her on countless adventures, from Yellowstone to Mt. Rushmore, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. She even had the opportunity to travel through Europe, with plans for a Mediterranean cruise in the works.
My mom was the most inspiring, beautiful, and intelligent woman I have ever known. Her energy and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. So everyone raise a glass of Diet Coke with ice in an orange plastic tupperware cup from 1982 in honor of my mother.
