Obituary of Mark A. Thielges
Mark A. Thielges, age 69, of Geneseo, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his parents John and Alice Thielges.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Gallagher, children, Jason Thielges of Geneseo, Jena (Jake) Tomko of Sterling, VA, sister, Mary Bonalle of FL, brother, George (Connie) Kenney of Nunda, many cousins and dear friends, especially Geoffrey Staley of Geneseo.
Mark was born September 19, 1953 in Dansville, NY the son of John and Alice Perry Thielges. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School class of 1971 where he excelled in Football, Track & Field and was a member of the Section V Basketball Class C Champions. Mark earned his Bachelor's Degree from Alfred University. His initial business venture was the purchase of Valley Liquor in Geneseo. Mark then purchased, owned and operated Club 41 on Main Street in Geneseo. He also owned and operated Lake End Boat & Mini Storage in Lakeville, as well as rental housing in Geneseo. Mark enjoyed golf with his many friends at Livingston Country Club and their annual Myrtle Beach trips. He enjoyed many trips to the Southeastern Conference Basketball Championships and his annual trips to Phoenix for the Waste Management Golf Tournaments. Mark was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Syracuse Orange Men's Basketball team.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 25 from 1-5 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, 4 Avon Rd. in Geneseo with Father Sylvester Bioh officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Teresa House, 21 Highland Rd., Geneseo, NY 14454.
