Mary A (Alhart) Oelwang, daughter of Mary C (Meisenzahl) Alhart, grew up in the Rochester and Webster, New York area.
In 1950, my mother completed the Registered Nursing program at St James Mercy Hospital, in Hornell New York, offered by the Sisters of Mercy. She had met my father. while a nursing student, and went on to marry, supporting her husband's career, (Sears), and moving her young family ten times in eight years. My mother applied her nursing education as a volunteer, in raising her children, and also in caring for an aging family. The Rochester area, the Hornell area and later Conesus, NY and Fort Myers, FL, all were places where life and love flourished for our family; because of my mother's priorities, commitment and dedication.
