Obituary of Florence B. Simpson

Florence B. Simpson, age 93, of York, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth B. Simpson in 2002 and son, David Bartron Simpson in 1948. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Judith) Simpson of York, daughter, Lynne (Peter) Hudak of Henrietta, grandsons, Jeff (Danielle) Simpson of Gananda, NY, David Hudak of Henrietta, great grandson, Justin Reed Simpson, several nieces and nephews. Florence was born July 17, 1920 in Rochester, NY the daughter of Oscar and Mabel Bowen Bartron. She was a graduate of Monroe High School and Brockport State University. Florence taught second grade at Brighton Elementary School and later taught at York Central School on a substitute basis. She and Kenneth were married on November 2, 1946. Florence was a long time active member of the York United Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank the staff at both the Palliative Care Unit at Highland Hospital and the staff at Brentland Woods Assisted Living in Henrietta for the wonderful care Florence received. Friends may call Friday, from 4-7 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St. in York with Pastor Michelle Sumption officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.
