Obituary of Gertrude A. Catlin

Gertrude A. Catlin, age 100, a resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY. Mrs. Catlin was formerly of Geneseo. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Catlin. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Stapley of Geneseo, Raymond (Vivienne) Catlin of Long Meadow, MA, Richard (Susan) Catlin of Tonawanda, NY, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was born March 24, 1913 in Athens, PA the daughter of Clarkson and Anna Tomkins Brown. She was a graduate of the Cortland Normal School and was a Teacher at the Van Etten Central School in Van Etten, NY. Gertrude was an avid football fan of the Buffalo Bills, Penn State, and Notre Dame. She enjoyed traveling in her younger days. Calling hours will be held Friday from 1-3 PM at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
